November 4, 2020 (Miami, FL): OPINION: 🇺🇲🤔 #BallotBoxWithBritt 🗳 Although the Presidential race hasn’t been decided nationally, it HAS been decided in the State of Florida and Trump is the winner. Winning Florida put Trump in serious play to win yet another term in the White House. Something, just a few days ago, seemed untenable.
From the untenable…to the possible… and now even the probable, Blacks in #MiamiDade County need look no further than in the mirror.
#FACT: Blacks doubled their support for Trump from 2016 going from 7% to 15%!! 🤯
#FACT: Blacks needed a record turnout to get Obama’s good friend Joe in the White House, and it didn’t happen! 😑
Let me be clear, this is a country where you can vote however you want. And from that perspective, Blacks should not be beholden to one political party… I’ve said this many times before.
Blacks in Miami seem okay with living in a world where facts just don’t seem to matter, when you consider the constant “less than truths” that come from the supposed “leader” of the “free” world and where anti-Semitism is constantly blatant.
However, in light of the recent rash of deaths, both #pandemic and #police initiated; the growing socio-#economic gap between the haves and have nots; the clear lack of #diversity in judicial and White House staffing under the current administration….It is extremely difficult for me to see where or how support can be doubled and the continued voter #apathy within our community. 🤔
Until and unless we as a people in this community can clearly demonstrate and articulate a #vision for ourselves and then, not only get candidates to agree, but hold them #ACCOUNTABLE, we can continue to EXPECT to be at the bottom of the totem pole in this fantastic land of opportunity.
Good luck… better yet…keep PRAYING!!
